-He sets the scene in the beginning in the old school classroom. He hints to what is going to happen next in a subtle way. He tells of all the conflict that Ruby had to go through with her race, the mob and her father losing his job. He then tells of how she progresses and matures and how these conflicts make her stronger. The resolution is her returning to her once hated school as a teacher
